Happy 2008 in Athens

Alright, not quite in Athens.. But somewhere over the Bay of Bengal~

In fact, Moi celebrated New Year countdown with 10 other cabin crew, 4 pilots and 300plus passengers flying from Athens back to Singapore!

It's pretty exciting though. The Captain made the PA announcement while flying over the Bay of Bengal and all of us were like "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" hugging and kissing one another.

Too bad no one started singing the "Auld Lang Syne" song.
I mean, seriously, at that moment of joy, i would have gladly pick up the handset and sing "Auld Lang Syne" at the top of my voice!!!

I had this family onboard who brought with them a home-made New Year cake. The family explained that a special coin is hidden in the New Year cake. After distribution of the cake, whoever gets the coin will have good luck for the rest of the year.
I thought it was a really interesting New Year tradition.

Oh yeah, one of the daughter got the coin!

Happy times in Athens:

Went to town for authentic Greek food
Souvlaki plate : lamb on skewer with pita bread
This is the traditional Greek Salad.
I have yet to acquire a taste for feta cheese -_- 3days had passed since Christmas Day but the town is still decorated with Christmas decoration!A carnival smacked right in the centre of town.Issit just me or do the clowns looks super grumpy? It's no wonder the children stayed away from them.
"Hey, Mr Clown! Give us a smile please!!!"Mr Santa with a baby pony!! The Santa...Opsie, i meant the pony is so so so adorable~
*winkz winkz*Moi with the gigantic Christmas tree in the backgroundThe lighting on the Christmas tree looks much better when i took it without the camera's flash.
Poor guard standing outside in the freezing cold...The next day, we headed up to a sightseeing spot. Moi can't recall the name of the place and im too lazy to check.

First stop. Lunch!!!
Grilled chicken (which wasn't very nice) -_-Cute decoration along the way
"Mr Santa! you're suppose to go down the chimmy~"
Beautiful sunset!! A great view of Athens..
It was super cold up there. For a moment, i almost felt like the wind was gonna blow moi off the mountain~We passed by this cosy coffee house on our way down and the aroma of the coffee beans was too tempting to ignore. The hazelnut latte that moi ordered was just heavenly~ The friendly lady recommended the blueberry pie and the Kourabiedes, Christmas cookies made by kneading flour, butter and crushed roasted almonds, then generously dusted with powdered sugar.
The Kourabiedes tastes like almond cookie
Having a good tea time! The Athens flight was terrific! However, I'm kinda disappointed that moi didn't get to spend my New year eve with Tom. (and last year as well).
Perhaps 2009?

The saying, Looks like Greek to me!
