Berjaya, Tioman

Just came back from a 4 days 3 nights trip to Tioman with Tom.

We paid ard S$350/person which i thought was a really good deal.
The downside? Taking the 4hours bus ride and 2hours ferry there.

For those cash rich people, you might probably wanna book a flight up from Singapore Changi airport to Tioman which probably takes less than an hour.

Im a poor person...

So there we were, outside Golden mile at 5.45 in the morning waiting for the bus to bring us across the causeway to Tanjong Gemok Ferry terminal...
All tired and sleepy (had just 3 hours of beauty sleep)
I WANNA SLEEP!!

(How did Tom look so awake and fresh so early in the morning baffled moi)

I must say that the 4hours bus journey and the 2 hours ferry ride wasnt as bad as i thought.
Moi didnt get bus sick or sea sick along the way, which was a good thing.
And i was half asleep most of the time.

We reach Berjaya Tioman around 3pm.
(The schedule says the ferry departs at 12noon. IT'S NOT TRUE!!)

The beautiful scenery that greets us.

My girlfren, Lina and Tom told moi that Berjaya is the best resort in Tioman. And i definitely agree with them. The sea have all these different shades of blue.
We are really lucky because our crib is located just beside the open sea.
*count our lucky stars*

Without a second to lose, we dumped our bags, changed into our beachwear and head out to explore our surroundings.

FIRST STOP: LUNCH!!!

Our food finally arrived. Moi had the nasi goreng while Tom ordered the Beef sandwich.
After our stomachs are filled, we proceed down to the beach. It's really a good time to go for a beach holiday in Tioman. The weather is great for suntanning and it only rained once during our stay there. We headed back to our chalet where both of us slept from 7pm till 10am the next day.
15hours of uninterrupted sleep!
PRICELESS~

We blame it on the too comfy queen size bed.

DAY 2:
Complimentary brekkie from 7.30am to 10.30am
They provide a good array of both local and western delights!

After brekkie, we head down to the swimming pool overlooking the open sea. Most of our time were spent here where our Dear Tom was teaching moi how to swim.
(YESH! I DUNNO HOW TO SWIM!! sue me!)

The farnie thing: Moi was in the shade most of the time (probably in the sun for like just 20mins?) while Dear Tom was just baring his skin in the hot sun all the time.
At the end of the day, i was getting really brown and Tom looks the same!! @-@

I attribute it to our asian skin. It's able to absorb so much of that sunlight in that 20mins.
Asians tend to turn brown while blonde caucasians in general turn a golden tan colour when they are out in the sun .

TOM? he got sun burnt from all the sun!! KEKE

After all the sun, we rent two bikes to cycle around the Berjaya area.
We didnt get very far though. I fell down four times (Once almost into a stoopid drain!).
In some areas, moi actually had to dismount and push my bike up the slopes.
But hey, the last time i rode a bike was like 10years ago so give me some credit lah!

We make it back in time to see the beautiful sunset

Dinner was at this restaurant where they serve buffet dinner. Its kinda pricey though, at RM66/head. The spread was just okay but the satay were fabulous!
DAY3
we planned to go snorkeling this morning but decided to cancel the trip as both of us woke up with stomach upset.

MUST BE THE BUFFET DINNER YESTIE!!
GRRRRRR

STAR CRUISE making a stop at Tioman!!
Our stomach felt alittle bit better in the afternoon. We decided to go down to the beach and stay there till nightfall.
Dinnertime! We decided "no more buffet dinner" this time and instead opt for a Ala carte restaurant.

Picture taken without flash. I hate taking photos without flash. It look so grainy!

After dinner, we walked over to a open air pub where they were showing the Chelsea VS Man United match.
YESH TOM! You were right. Chelsea won.

Big deal :P

The difference between our height! 27cm!!
yupz, I'm a head shorter!! Now you know who always get bullied and who's the big bully!!

DAY 4...
Last day of our holiday! Sob~

Remember that i mentioned earlier in the blog that it only rained once the whole time we were in Tioman? AND did YOU know when it rained? YESH! Just when we were checking out from the resort. Talk about perfect timing!! We had to struggle with our baggies while holding on to the umbrella.
It's also damn farnie because the rain stopped once we reached the reception.

Ride back took longer than usual. We depart our resort at 11am and only reach Golden mile, Singapore at almost 8pm.
We'll be back!!

Note: Alrite..i didnt wanna pen this down but Tom said that he'll mentioned it in the comment section if i didnt. So here goes, We got off the bus at Golden mile and immediately flagged an empty cab behind. While in the cab, i realise my camera was not in my bag. Initally, i was like "Tom, Did you take the camera? Its not funny!! Give it back to me". Tom was giving me this blank look. Then it dawned on moi that i might have dropped it in the bus. I think moi went hysterical. The cab driver was really kind. He spotted the bus in front and told us that he will try and overtake the bus while we'll signal to the bus driver to pull aside. What happen next was kinda like those high speed cars chase, with the cab driver honking at the bus, and Tom unwinding the window and shouting at the bus driver to stop.

Me? i was still in shock

Damn dramatic horr...In the end, the camera was indeed on the floor (probably dropped it as i felt asleep).
Thank goodness!!! I could never forgive myself if i had lost it.
All the Tioman photos, the camera which was a birthday gift from Tom.

So it's all a good ending in the end.
There! I mentioned it, Tom. Happy? =P

Ballot for NDP 2007 NOW!!

In all my 28years, i have never never attend a single National Day Parade.
Guilty as charged

Even Tom, had attended NDP once in his 8 years of living in Singapore.

I'm such a Failure -_-

I guess partly the reason why, is because it really difficult to get the NDP tickets. Like you have to queue up overnight just to get your hands on the precious tickets.

This year, however, everyone would stand an equal chance of getting the tickets, which will not be disbursed on a first-come-first-served basis.

HOW TO BALLOT
.e-SERVICES Visit www.ndp.org.sg or any AXS station or SAM terminal

.PHONE Dial 1900-112 4242 (for tickets to preview on July 28) or 1900-112 4243 (for Aug 9)

.SMS If you are a Singapore citizen, send "NDP SC" to 42422 (for two tickets), 42424 (four tickets) or 42426 (six tickets). Replace "NDP" with "PREVIEW" if you wish to attend the preview. Replace "SC" with "PR" if you are a Permanent Resident.

You can apply for tickets from May 19 to May 28.

I did mine through the AXS machine.
It pretty easy and straight forward. Just enter your NRIC number, select either the preview or the actual NDP and lastly, select how many tickets you require: 2,4 or 6. It probably take like just a min and the machine will print out an acknowlegement slip as shown below.
It's funny how they try to cover themselves by stating
"This is NOT a NDP ticket"
Like duh~
Are there people who seriously believe that THIS IS THE NDP TICKET?
*rolled eyes*

Im not really such a big fan of NDP though (haven seen it on TV for the last couple of years). Heck! I might not even be in Singapore on that day.
But i guess if you are a true Singaporean at heart, it's probably nice to be part of the NDP at least once in your lifetime.
Know what i mean?

*prayz for the tickets*

My Hong Kong San francisco trip

Yesh! I literally blew my whole flying allowance on this flight!
In fact, i think i even 到贴 contributed extra from my personal saving -_-

My stay in San Francisco was purely shopping SHOPPING SHOPPING!!
(it helps that the US$ to S$ rate is like just 1.52 or something)
Really low = use less Sin$$ to buy the same amount of stuff!!
*ka ching ka ching*

Bath&Bodyworks, Old Navy, Victoria's Secret, Abercrombie&Fitch, Coach, OPI, Forever21
moi totally went bonkers shopping at all these places...

I love clothes from Forever21! Maybe thats why moi blew US$200++ in there. They are value for $$ and totally trendy. The range of clothes found there are slightly different from those in Singapore. It's also much much cheaper as compared to Singapore. I did a price comparison on two identical dress. The same dress cost US$19.90 (S$30) excluding sale tax in US and S$58 here in Singapore. (Must be the freight charges, man!!)

Next stop:
Abercrombie & Fitch
A&F recruit these hot bods to stand half nekkid outside the shop just to entice shoppers to go in.
*swooned*
I mean, seriously..is this like the Best job in the world?
When people see Victoria's Secret, they always think =sexy, come hither, provocative, seductive, sensual...It's sorta true..
But they do have another collection call "PINK" which I absolutely love...
This is more the: fun, cute and young collection. I believe PINK is catered more for the growing teens.. the "Not a girl, Not yet a woman" kinda individuals.

And the shop is decorated in pink color....Nice~

Speaking of pink colour, i need to show you guys this A&F cutie pinky flip flop that cost moi US$20! AND it says "MADE IN CHINA" at the bottom..
Yesh, i know... a similar XXXX brand flip flop probably cost just S$5.

BUT STILL!!! It's so so PINK...and i could use it for my Tioman trip next week
(excuses)

Moi also help my guy friend to buy a Coach baggie. Suppose to be a gift for her birthday.
Yesh! Coach is so much cheaper in United States.
I told the sales personal it's meant as a gift and she was super nice to wrap it up and present it in a nice gift box with a ribbon...

Awwww
Now for the HONG HONG leg. If San Francisco stay was spent on shopping, Hong Kong stay was spent on Eating and Eating and EATING.

First stop,
People told moi there used to be one in Singapore but closed down due to poor business.
This dessert shop in Hong Kong never fail to draw in the crowd. It's always fully packed.

Their speciality: MANGOES!!
(they do have other dessert as well)

Another of my favourite: Roast meats!! Their char siew is super nice and juicy Hong Kong Dim Sum house~
Another dessert place..but this time, hot dessert!Another one of my favourite dish is the Wanton noodle. It might look bland and not so interesting. But lemme tell you, its prob the best wanton noodle i ever taste in my whole life. The wantons are filled with shrimps and the noodle is ohh, so springy, or so "Q"
The Singapore wanton noodle, with all the chilli, the gravy, the char siew and the pitiful lil wantons just doesnt have the same "Ommph" taste.
This is the first time i tasted the Stinky tofu in Hong Kong. It's more crispy than the Taiwan version and more smelly -_-ARGHHHH!!! Krispy Kreme in HONG KONG!!! I think Krispy Kreme hate Singapore..
When will they ever open a shop here in Singapore? Sighz..
Bought a dozen of the original glazed... HK$88/dozen (S$17)

With all the eating, it's no wonder i gained 2 kgs in my entire trip.
Of cos, there's shopping and sightseeing in Hong Kong as well... One thing i really really hate about Hong Kong: the aircon water that will just fall from above. It's really irritating!!! Imagine, you are happily walking along the street and suddenly, droplets of water from the aircon above will just hit you in your face..

Totally gross
Moi was walking around and saw a life size figurine of Spidey in a sport shoe shop!!!
(ermm, Spidey..since when have u start endorsing for sport shoes?)
I LOVE YOU, SPIDEY!!!!!
Went up to Victoria peak. My First time!
Took a cab up... Interestingly, the driver allow the 5 of us to squeeze into one cab.
legal or illegal? Not that we mind...
Went out late, so we kinda miss the sunset
You gotto admit that my colleague is kinda cute *winkz*Went to the famous nv ren jie 女人街 located at MongkokRandom photos of moi and my colleagues
