Nike style..Just Do it~anyway

I was reading the ST Forum dated 26 AUG (i love reading the ST forum!!) and came across this poem from a reader replying to the topic "Of Chivalry and Xenophobia".

Chivalry : the sum of the ideal qualifications of a knight, including courtesy, generosity, valor, and dexterity in arms
Xenophobia : an unreasonable fear or hatred of foreigners or strangers or of that which is foreign or strange

The reader mentioned that this is a poem that Mother Teresa hung on a wall of the orphanage she founded in Calcutta, its source is unknown.

People are often unreasonable,
Illogical and Self-centred;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind,
People may accuse you of
selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful,
You will win some false friends
and
some true enemies
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank,
People may cheat you;

Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building,
Someone could destroy
overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and
happiness,
They may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today,
People will often forget
tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you

have,
And it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've
got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis,
It is between you and God;
It is never between you and
them anyway.

Moi additional version:
So to the mean people and nasty passengers
who had bullied moi previously,
and will bully moi in the future;
I FORGIVE YOU ANYWAY~

Nanjing trip 南京!!

Moi just contributed S$200 for my brother's new spec.. and its doesnt make things any better when i opened my UOB credit card bill.. S$2361.13!!! *gasp*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nanjing trip 南京!!
First and foremost, its moi last team flight with my team!! 好伤心喔!!
i still can't believe the company took moi (and some others) out of the team
Hmmph... gonna start a petition to get them to put moi back into the team or start a demostration at Suntec!! HAHA
Anyway, its moi first trip to Nanjing 南京 , one of the six ancient capitals of China. It is also the administrative center of Jiangsu Province. Situated at the south bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, Nanjing has numerous tourist attractions available
Dinner was at this resturant 南京大牌 located at 狮子街。。。
Check out the interior of this place...it's like going back to the Qing or Ming Dynasty!!
It even comes with entertainment ==> playing the Er hu and "i have no idea what the other musical instrument"..
Nobodys paying much attention to them except moi!! Haha...never see somthing like this in Singapore mah!!
This is moi taking a photo with the Xiao Er!! 点菜啊!(for the record, the food didnt taste nice..or mabbe its my tastebuds)
The next day, we joined a day tour that takes us around Nanjing
First stop:
The Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen
It is so bloody hot in Nanjing at this time of the year! 37degrees (Along with Wuhan and Chongqing, Nanjing is often referred to as one of the "Three Furnaces" along the Yangtze River, due to the historically high temperature in summer. According to the city government's website, the best weather of the year occurs from September to November.)
I almost got heatstoke! especially after i saw the steps up to the Mausoleum!!! *faint*
Yesh! I made it to the top....finally~ *phew*
The coffin of Dr Sun lies here inside this marble hall for viewing.. It is disrespectful to take a pic of the coffin so i guess you guys can view it for urself when u're there..
Second stop : We went to the beamless hall..
I dun really understand what's the big deal abt the place being beamless..But if this is a national historical relic, then it's worth the time to make a trip down here
Next, we went to the "Tower of Super merists and virtues Tablet". Again, its a historial relic...didnt pay much attn to the place (i like the tortorise though!)
Finally! Time for lunch! head down to this resturant recommended by the tour guide..
(in the bus, on our way to lunch!! yaay *food*)
WOW!! I love this place! All the food comes with pictures (especially when my mandarin is really really bad!!!) just point at the picture and order..fun!
Yesh, i know people..it sounds so cruel to eat small cute pigeons...
Btw, they are really tasty!*droolz*
(arhh! cant believe i just said that! sorry pigeons)
After lunch, we head down to the 600-year-old city wall of Nanjing. It is the longest surviving city wall in the world. It took 21 years for the project, which involved 200,000 laborers to move 7 million cubic meters of earth.
Can you imagine the bricks are stuck together with a mix of glutinous rice porriage and lime white! and it actually lasts for decades... (google search :The walls were packed layer by layer with broken bricks, gravel and yellow earth. All the brickwork joints were poured with mixed lime, water in which glutinous rice had been cooked and tong oil because the coagulated mixture was very strong. That is why the city wall has stood for a long time.)*impressive*
Inside, the Nanjing historical museum of Ming Dynastic city wall, we saw a mock-up of how Nanjing city look like back in the Ming Dynasty. If im not mistaken, there's 13gates surrounding the Nanjing city. Notice the square on the right side of the picture? That's supposely where the Emperor and his wives lived.
We then head down to the Number 1 garden in NanjingThe water is kinda murky if you ask me
Come with entertainment at the teahouse
The truth is out!! This is so FAKIE!!!
I could made out the blue tack stuck to the plates!!! I mean i'm sure there's people out there in the world with real skills who could spin the plates without using BlUETACK!!
BUT THIS IS TOO FUNNY!! and the faces of the performers looked so bored while they are doing it..at least pretend to concentrate abit lah...
I didnt clap after this show..hmmph, FAKIE!!!
Everyone is concentrating on what's the tour guide is saying except moi and Eliz..HAHA
Just happily snapping pictures after pictures
After visiting the garden, its time to head down to Nanjing Confucius Temple. Nanjing Confucius Temple is for consecrating and worshipping Confucius, the great thingker and educator of ancient China. In 1991, the Confucius Temple was elected the "Forty Best Scenery Spots".
I sure there's more to see in Nanjing or Jiangsu province but its a pretty amazing feat that we managed to cover so many interesting places in a day!
I'll be back Nanjing!!
Inkmate? what?
while browsing through Mango at Isetan, i came across this vest which i really like and subsequently bought..
When i got home, moi immediately tried it on and happily modeled infront of my mirror.. While putting on the hood, my fingers brushed against something plastic..
It's a security tag!!! (you know the kind that make the irritating "BEEP BEEP BEEP" if you happen to bring the tag too close to the metal dectector)
My first thought was "hmm, how come it didnt BEEP when i walked through the Isetan doors"
it was kinda weird...
Was it just a fake security tag to deter people from shoplifting?
The security tag malfunction?
I wanted to try pry it open till i notice the warning label on the tag
SHIT!! i had to go back to Isetan and get the staff to remove it for me!
The next day, armed with my vest and receipt, i approached one of the salesgirl and explain my problem
Salesgirl : Ohh, i'm so sorry madam!!! i'll remove it right away!!
Moi : Its alright...btw, i'm just kinda curious...when didnt the alarm went off when i walked out of the doors?
Salesgirl :well, these are actually plastic ink tag. The metal detectors at the doors will not be able to detect these.
Moi : okayzzz (with a dubious look)
a google search turns out the following:
EAS tagsInkmate®
The most popular 2 vial dye tag that is built to withstand accidental breakage but deters the forceful pull Compatible with most E.A.S. tags.
Specifications:Size:1.5" x .3/8"
I guess the reason they use the INKMATE instead of the
regular metal tag is because REGULAR METAL TAG ARE DAMN ANNOYING!!!
ask yourself, how many times have you accidentally activate the metal dectector just because you'll holding the clothes too close to the metal doors
(not that we wanna make a quick exit with the unpaid clothes! we are law abidding citizen mind you!!)
With the InkMate, even if you stole the clothes, there will be no way you gonna wear them..
I mean, c'mon, you'll look so dumb with the InkMate tag visible to everyone around you..It will call out "HEY LOOK HERE!! I STOLE THE CLOTHES!! HAHAHAHA"
How embarrassing can that be?
Especially if you're a typical "wanna save face" Singaporean
And you're not gonna force them open cos they are really really gonna stain the fabrics!!
the regular security tags that moi is familiar with are usually like this====>
Supertag®
This is the tag to use when you are looking for the highest level of protection. Super Tag is designed to defeat the most highly trained shoplifters.
Familiar?
So the next time, when you're out shopping..just take a look at the security tag....
Sorry bro~
My brother aint talking to me
In fact, he's kinda pissed with me...
Why why why? u asked...
Simple reason: I stepped on his specs yestie nite and broke it
(flimsy spec!!!..hmmph)
the thing is, it's not really my fault...well, i mean yesh, it was my foot that stepped on his spec and broke it.. but if you think about it, he's partly to blame because HE LEFT IT ON THE FLOOR and the room was pitch dark! HELLO!!! I don't have night vision or watever you called the thingy that enable you to see in the dark
So my brother is partly to blame...
and Tom is sharing the blame too...
TOM??? Yesh, cos i was talking to him on the phone when i stepped on the stoopid specs.. he distracted me from seeing the stoopid specs which was left on the stoopid floor!!
it doesnt help when i started laughing hysterically the moment i picked up the broken specs.
My brother simply refuse to talk to me after that..
Even this morning...it's like im invisible (i dun mind having the talent/power actually).. i did feel abit bad when i saw him trying to glue it up with superglue...its probably worse than the time when i accidentally kicked the power to his lappy and cost him to lose his assigment(which he didnt save)
Im Sorry~ dun be so petty lah
and its about time you buy a new specs anyway rite?
Fisherman's Wharf
Fisherman's Wharf is a neighbourhood and popular tourist attraction in San Francisco
On our way to Fisherman's Wharf (driving in SFO is like riding in a roller coaster!)
UP we go!!!
DOWNHILL!!
Try taking Powell-Hyde cable car lines which runs to Aquatic Park, at the edge of Fisherman's Wharf and experience the thrill of having the wind blowing in you face (fyi, don't confuse the Powell-Hyde cable car with our Sentosa cable car!)
At Fisherman's Wharf....
We came across this fruits stall and saw the most amazing Strawberries! The price are pretty amazing as well! 7 STRAWBERRIES FOR US$7.25!!
That's rougly S$1.70 for one strawberry (of cos we didnt realise it was that expensive until we paid at the cashier)
Nice shop selling fruits dipped in chocolates...Yummies
This frozen banana with chocolate is absolutely FANTASTIC!!! (could i fit the whole thing into my mouth?? keke *wink wink*
Fisherman's Wharf has numerous restaurants that serve seafood, most notably the dungeness crabs
The clam clowder which moi is holding is really good....out of this world
Johnny Depp!!! What happen to you!! why are you just a skeleton!!!
Sea lions at Pier 39
Seagulls.....in a distance, u could rougly make up the Golden gate bridge
a zoom up view of the Golden gate bridge...the name Golden is kinda misleading becos the bridge itself is not gold in colour..but RED!!
There are ferries operating from Fisherman's Wharf to the famous Alcatraz Island. Of cos its no longer a prison but a tourist attraction
The view of San Francisco from Fisherman's Wharf
Pretty isnt it?
