18th March 2008

After like a month of preparation for the ROM, Tom and moi are now officially married! We invited the solemnizer to our humble lil home, together with a couple of close friends and relatives. Buffet dinner was catered (Unfortunately, a couple of people mentioned that the food wasn't that fantastic).

The buffet style dinnerI would say our ROM is pretty low key. We didn't get any wedding planner or photographer for our ROM. The clothes that we wore that night were bought like just a couple of days before the ROM!! He's wearing a Massimo Dutti white shirt and moi's in an off the rack Daniel yam dress. Instead of paying professional makeup n hair stylist, moi did my own make up n hair. Photographers? All my friends, family and relatives are like professional photographers!! In fact, Tom and moi feel like mini celeb cos all these paparazzi are just happily snapping away. It's the first time i had pple fighting each other just to take a photo with us!

First and foremost, i just wanna say a big thank you to Tom's parents, Gunnar and Lucyna for coming all the way from Sweden to attend our ROM! I was really touched that you kept the promise you made last summer. It was reallly wonderful to have you both here in Singapore for 3weeks. And the toast that Gunnar made on that night brought moi to tears. I hope you had a wonderful time in Singapore and brought back with you, many fond memories of your time here. It's such a pity that you felt sick the last couple of days. Please know that you are welcome with open arms anytime to our lil home and we hope to visit you in Sweden soon!I ordered this beautiful flowers arrangement from this lil flower shop in Bedok town for just S$35!
Super reasonable!! It helps that my sista knows the lady boss (after many years of buying soil, seeds, pots etc from her)
The feather pens and "married" fun plate were ordered from online webbies!
It brought alot of "Awwww" "Ohhhhh" "Ahhhhhh" from the crowd. The "married" funplate is customised with both of names and Date of Marriage. Unfortunately, you cant really tell from the photo. BUT IT'S THERE!!This unique Guest book is a gift from Kimmy! (Tom's younger sista)
Before Tom mentioned anything, im gonna write it here.
Moi had initially bought a guest book too. The funny thing was, on the day of the ROM, it was nowhere to be found. Moi was like going hysterical, tearing the own house apart till Tom's parent save the day by taking out this beautiful guestbook and explaining it's a gift from Kimmy.

Phew~ I heart you Kimmy!!

So where's my guestbook? It was all along at my parents place!! I blame my family.
*KIDDING*
Some people buy or make their own ring pillow. For us, we are pretty lucky cos it comes together with our wedding bands. Of course you have to ask them for it lah, else they pretend it doesn't exist.
Better still. Remind them at every opportunity.
"it comes with the ring pillow...right?"
"yes, mdm" sales person replied for the ten zillions time
"You sure it comes with the ring pillow?"
*faint*The decoration? yupz, you got it.
We opt for DIY style
Special thanks to the following people
- VERON: for loaning moi the organza and lil flowers
- DARREN : for driving moi around Singapore one sat afternoon looking for wedding decoration
- Tom's best friend : FIONA & ERIC who put up all the wonderful decorations
- Tom's parents : GUNNAR & LUCYNA & my sista for blowing up the balloons As you can see, Tom and Moi are of absolutely no help to them.
(other than getting panicky and hyperventilating)
I must say, i was really really impressed with the end results..
It was so perfect~ Notice the webcamie on the tripod stand in the above photo? It was set up by Tom so that his family in Sweden could watch the whole procedure! Makes it feel like his whole family is here with us as well. Tom's sista, Lucy made a CD recording of her singing 2 love songs to us. It was so so sweet of her. BTW, have i mention before that Lucy is one hell of a singer? She writes and sings her own songs, plays the piano and guitar as well.
Unfortuately, Tom doesnt share the same talent!

Our solemnizer, Mr Chia arrived promptly at 8pm
He went through a rehearsal first before going into the actual ceremony.
I was trying so hard not to laugh!
Signing of the marriage certificate! Using the cute feathery pens of course!!
(fyi, IMPT: if you are gonna make a feather pen, please ensure that the ink is black in colour)
Holding each others hands, gazing into each other's eyes while reciting the wedding vows.
(check out all those paparazzi behind!! heehee)
Exchanging of the wedding rings
And.....we are married!!!
Picture of us with Mr Chia.. He is super nice and funny!! Especially when it comes to pronouncing Tom's surname. He just makes the whole situation so relaxing and comfortable! In fact, one of my good friend is asking him to be her solemnizer this coming sept and i'm recommending him to another of of my friend.

It was fun to read how you experienced the wedding! It was also fantastic to be able to take part in it, even if it only was by webcam + skype :-) We could see a glimpse of you here and there, and hear the party sounds!

Today we watched the video of the ceremony, and it was very touching.
Take care of Tommy for us, and keep him in line ;-)

Love,

Micke, Helena and Minna
