popping the corns!

One lazy afternoon, moi decided to make myself some popcorns

Instead of paying outrageous amount of money(like those in the cinema), moi bought this packet of dried corn kernels from the US that cost moi less than US$3.
(So far, Cold storage is the only supermarket in Singapore that sells dried corn kernels for making popcorns)Easy to make:
Find a saucepan WITH LID!!
pour in a small amount of cooking oil or Olive oil if you are those health conscious type.
Medium heat.


Throw in a handful of the corn kernals.
(Not too much else there's no space once it start popping)
Remember to cover it with a lid! You don't wish to getpop corns all over your floor once it starts popping!You can see them POPPING!!
YAAY~
It always amaze moi when i see them popping...It's so interesting to see them changing from corn kernels to white fluffy popcorns.... and you can't do that with other kind of seeds...
JUST corns....

Thorw in some salt and it's a perfectly healthy snack!

London~

It has been almost half a year since i did a London flight. Kinda looking forward to it cos Veron's husband, Ah Ken is (STILL) there. He's the ever wonderful host who will bring moi out for "makan" session, my sightseeing kakis...
Hey Ken, we still haven done our Stonehenge trip leh!!

Gonna meet up with another one of my fren, Clarissa who happens to be in London as well. She's a flight Attendant with another airline and always does the London route. She's really sweet and agree to meet moi for lunch even though she's flying back to Singapore later in the day.

We went for Dim sum at Chinatown.The food is really good but bloody expensive...Like 20pounds (S$60) just for that few dishes...
and the service there leaves much to be desire -_-


We parted after lunch and moi went to meet up with Ah Ken at Oxford circus. Did some shopping there as well as helping my sista to buy the "Harry Potter" book. She claims that they are much cheaper in London as compare to Singapore. Turn out they have two different covers for the same book i.e the Children and the Adult version.
Moi bought the children version since sista says she prefer that cover.

I must admit that the adult cover looks kinda plain...

Manage to prevent Ah Ken from wasting his money on this "male~ish tote" bag.
I mean, seriously, it look kinda "duh~" and is totally not worth the heavy price tag!We head to Chinatown (again~) for dinner. The famous "four season" duck rice!!
This is their newly opened branch in Chinatown. Their first shop is located in Bayswater. It is about time they open a second branch. The 1st shop is too small and too crowded.

As usual, the Duck skin is still too darn fatty
(some things never change)

A birdie surprise

My mom just showed moi something REALLY REALLY interesting!

This is the plant just outside our front door...

Notice anything interesting?Yesh!!! There's a tiny little birdnest hanging at the stem of the plantCloser look.... Seriously, im so impressive with the mother bird "nest making" skill..
How can something like this just hang up there without any robe or string to secure it?
Moi took a peep inside and saw a tiny egg laying inside...
Isnt this the cutest thing you ever saw???OMIGOSH!! Moi cant wait for the eggie to hatch.. hopefully it wouldnt hatch till im back from my London trip!!

Hmm.... thinking of a name for my birdie baby..
maybe Big Bird? :P

Home sweet home~

Ater a week of house hunting, travelling to and fro between Bedok and Punggol/Sengkang. Tom and moi finally found a place in Punggol that we really liked. It's a 5 room flat, fully air-conditioned, full length windows in the living room, just 5years old and still in really good condition. The only bummer is that it's just on the 4th floor.

Took a couple of photos to show my family and friends. Unfortunately, Moi cant post the photos here cos it's still not legally "Ours".

Gonna move in early Dec if everything flows smoothly.

Im SO SO excited!!!

The current owner gave us a copy of the Floor plan and moi have already start planning where and where i'm gonna place my furniture and stuff!!

In fact, i want our master bed-room to look similar to the Melbourne hotel that moi stayed a couple of days ago.But Tom was like he doesnt want our bedroom to look like a typical hotel room.
"Too standard. Doesnt have the cosy kind of effect" he said

I thought it looks cosy enough, with the earthly tone carpeting and the soft light overhead.
Oh Well~

Gonna post the photos of our place once we get our keys!!!

I could hardly wait!!!!! Time to start reading up on the Home & Decor magazines...

Copenhagen, Denmark holis

During our 2 weeks stay in Sweden, Tom and myself popped over to Copenhagen, Denmark for some sightseeing as well. Thank god for special crew rate at our company's contracted hotel. The regular hotel rate for a single room per night is like S$300+++ !!

The famous square (i think!) in Copenhagen!
Copenhagen City Hall Square is the largest square in Copenhagen. It can holds 50.000 people or more! On one hand side of the square, you'll find the Tivoli and on the other side, the famous pedestrian street Strøget begins. We saw street performers promoting their own CDs~
(ermm, are they like Red Indians?)
In the summer heat, nothing beats having a humongous soft ice to cool you down!
The shopping street, Strøget (literally "the straight") is a carfree zone. This popular tourist attraction in the centre of town is the longest pedestrian shopping area in Europe

We walked further downwards and reach the Nyhavn (lit. "New Harbor"). It is a popular area for both locals and tourists. Starting from an old anchor at Kongens Nytorv, the street is lined with many small bars and restaurants facing out to a picturesque harbor. It is not uncommon to see groups of young people sitting along the waterfront with beer, enjoying the sunshine, the crowds and the street entertainment.
It is also the starting point for various canal tour excursions. Time for another soft ice!!We were looking around for the famous "The Little Mermaid" statue which we assume was located somewhere near here. I remembered my colleagues mentioning to moi that it's near to the habour. After walking around in circles, we finally asked a local only to find out from him that the statue is not near to the habour! In fact, it's like a 40mins walk to the statue!!!!!

Thank god moi was wearing my comfy birkens!!
Well, i must admit it's a pretty nice walk in the end.

We walked past the Amalienborg Palace
Amalienborg is the residence of Queen Margrethe, her husband prince Henrik and her son the crown prince Frederik. Actually the royal palace is not one, but four different palaces flanking a square. and past by a viking ship! 40mins later, moi spotted the statue!!
*make a mad dash towards it*

The Little Mermaid: The Carlsberg brewer Carl Jacobsen was inspired to donate money to a sculpture after having seen "The little Mermaid" based on a fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen. The sculptor Edward Eriksen, sculptured her in bronze and his wife Eline Eriksen modelled. The story says that she is a sea king's half-human and half-fish daughter, who must wait on her rock for 300 years before she can enter the world of humans. She's been sitting here since 1913 so she still has a few more years to go.

This poor statue was vandalised several times, with the statue's head being sawn off a couple of times. Most recently, On May 20, 2007, it was found draped in a Muslim dress and head scarf . It's relatively small size, only 1.25 meter high and weighs about 175 kg.
Poor Tom didnt get a picture of himself with the mermaid.....becos.... becos....ermmm....ermmm..Alrite, i was in a foul mood and we had an argument and blah blah blah....

Dinner was at Hard Rock Cafe, Copenhagen.
You're not gonna believe it, but it's the first time moi have eaten in a Hard Rock cafe!
The food and the service was totally awesome!!
I Heart HARD ROCK CAFE now!!

The next morning, we head down to another NOT TO BE MISS touristy attraction, The Tivoli.

Tivoli Gardens is a famous amusement park and pleasure garden. The park opened on August 15, 1843 and, except for Dyrehavsbakken in nearby Klampenborg, it is the oldest amusement park which has survived intact to the present day.
lunch was the famous Danish red hotdogs, Pølser

We took this ride and felt dizzy and nausea afterwards. Bleah~

I remembered taking this similar ride in Dreamland, Brisbane. The one that bring you slowly up to the top of the tower. Then it will linger for a couple of seconds, making your mind go crazy and without any warning or so forth, just drop you down in a matter of seconds

I HATE THAT!!If you are too tired to walk around, you could hop into this cutey ride that'll bring you around the whole Tivoli. BTW, Tivoli is a really huge place!!. Tom and moi's shadows!!

Time to head back to Malmo, Sweden. At the train station, waiting for the train.
