For those of you who might travel to Italy, and even consider buying fake products (or for that matter, even carrying fake branded items), do think twice.
I knew there were heavy fines, although difficult to find some good sources to explain it. Here's one (ironically, it's from a Swedish gov-linked site), although written in English:

"In fact, the Italian law is particularly severe with consumers and in the cases reported to us the fines inflicted corresponded most of the times to the maximum amount."
Not quite worth being slapped with a 10k Euro fine, for buying or having fake branded goods, no? :)
